The 55th Grammy Awards // Natural Celebs Hit the Red Carpet

Esperanza Spalding

Esperanza is wearing a dress, belt, and cape by Eden Diodati, Maiyet shoes, Natalie Fringo and Red Earth Trading Company rings with her own earrings.

Esperanza Spalding looks absolutely stunning in this Eden Diodati dress. Those colors look amazing on her. Of course, She wore a huge blown-out fro with a side part. I have a serious hair crush on Esperanza. Look at all that hair! The 28-year-old singer and musician won two Grammys for Best Jazz Vocal Album for her album Radio Music Society and Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist for her song “City of Roses” during the pre-telecast of the show. Congratulations to Esperanza! I knew she would win. 😉

Janelle Monae

Janelle is wearing an Against Nature vest and shirt, a Moschino jacket, a Ralph Lauren hat, and carrying a Jimmy Choo clutch.

Janelle Monae never disappoints when it comes to huge bouffants and tiny tuxes, but on Sunday, she wowed with a gold embroidered, mid 1800s- matador-esque suit and hat. It looks beautiful on her, but Janelle is a gorgeous woman and could probably pull off any outfit in any color. While I love her attitude and style, will we ever see Janelle in a dress? I imagine jaws dropping to the floor should she ever decide to switch it up.

Alicia Keys

Alicia is wearing an Azzedine Alaia dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Alicia has been giving us a lot of chic and edgy looks lately and this Azzedine Alaia dress is no exception. It still has that wild almost dominatrix look to it while still maintaining class and elegance. Her natural curls were slicked back into a sleek hump. Later on in the night, she performed with Maroon 5 in a sheer black dress that exposed all, save a large opaque cross that covered the naughty bits.

The 26-year-old entertainer rocked a flowing green Ralph & Russo Couture gown paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Alright look, some people are going to get mad at this, but who really cares? Solange is like a knockoff Beyonce Barbie, to me. She doesn’t possess the same entertaining capabilities of her sister, and MANY people noticed that fact when her debut album flopped. She has some “interesting” fashion choices, some I like, some I question why anyone let her leave the house thinking she looked fly in the first place. Those pinky-orange/melon colored shoes make her look like a pumpkin. Gold or bronze shoes would have been a better choice, in my opinion. Other than that unimportant detail, I love it and her hair. Not sure if she’s donning a wig here, but either way it’s big and kinky-curly, just the way we like it!

Drake

The 26-year-old rapper Drake picked up the award for Best Rap Album. Many congrats to him! I love when he grows his hair out. Gotta love the curls. He kept it simple and classic with the iridescent blue blazer and bow tie.

20130211-040011.jpgRedfoo of LMFAO

37-year-old LMFAO rapper Redfoo sports his characteristic red fro while wearing what appears to be velvet attire with matching loafers on the red carpet. I like Redfoo and all, but I don’t think I’m feeling the loafers, not with those shorts. Side Note: I often wonder how he keeps that wash-n-go from getting tangled and matted. He does the unkempt fro well.

2Chainz

Rapper 2 Chainz arrived on the red carpet in a Versace ensemble reminiscent of Blackula with locs gathered into a ponytail. I’m just not with the Dracula cape. Nope. At least, not without a cane and top hat. On second thought, where was T-Pain? This outfit is perfect for him!

What did you think of the fashion on the red carpet?

    • I completely agree, but by the same token, she pretty much wears the same thing all the time. I think she should switch it up with the colors at least. I can see her in a gold or even orange suit. Something out-of-the-box, much like her. btw, Athenia, I believe you’re the Featured Natural this week.
